Education first scholarship

  • Education First provides college scholarships to low-income high school seniors. Awards can be used for tuition and books at a college, university, community college, or trade school and must be used within seven years after graduating high school. Applicant must be a senior at one of our target high schools (see website for list). Preference is typically given to first generation college students in the “academic middle” who have overcome significant life obstacles. CTE Poster Contest 

Theme: There is no “tag line” as in years past, but the poster should answer the question: What CTE course inspires you? (Create a poster that will encourage other students to register for the course.) 

Design Criteria: 

  • Must be original 
  • Any Medium – hand drawn, painted, markers, chalk, digitally rendered, etc. 
  • Understandable Message 
  • Easy to Read 
  • Poster must include the words “Renton School District” and the CTE course name 
  •  Student created “tag lines” and/or verbiage that enhance the message may be included (check spelling!) 
  • Size : 11 x 17 or 17 x 11 

Poster must include this logo: 


  • Poster turned in to each Building CTE Visual Communication teacher Thur. 1/30/19 
  • Poster turned in to CTE by Visual Communications teacher Thur. 1/31/19 
  • Judging of the Posters and Final Selection Mon. 2/4/19 
  • Winner Announced Wed. 2/6/19 
  • Kiwanis Presentation of $500 Scholarship at RSD School Board Mtg. Wednesday, 2/13/19 
  • Recognition and Award: Kiwanis Presentation of $500 Scholarship at RSD School Board Mtg. Wednesday, 2/13/19 

Submission details:  

  • Entry Form must be attached to back of poster ( Click here to download form!) 
  • Printed/Final Format of Poster Entry must be delivered to your building representative by 1/30/19

HITEC Foundation (For students interested in technology) 

Every year the HITEC foundation selects a handful of Hispanic students who are interested in pursuing higher education in technology and will award them with a scholarship of $5k.
