Students from Ms. Hespelt’s 3rd and 5th periods ESS (Environmental Systems and Societies) classes recently participated in a lab to study biodiversity.

Since there are not many kinds of animals around this area, they counted the kinds of cars instead. They included cars from the staff parking lot and the student parking lot.

This lab lets the students find out what biodiversity looks like, even though they can not try it with real species. In turn, when they must find the biodiversity of an area, they know how do it properly.

Although it was a very rainy day and some of the students did not even have jackets, they still believed the lab helped them understand biodiversity better. Many other students looking for careers in science or biology would find this class very useful.
