The post office on NE 4th Street in Renton,WA is being renamed to honor Jimi Hendrix.

Representatives from congress worked hard to change the name of the post office to honor Hendrix, and their work paid off. They passed a bill with full support of the representatives and the post office is now known as the “James Marshall ‘Jimi’ Hendrix Post Office Building.”

“This designation will further celebrate Hendrix’s deep connection to the Puget Sound region and help ensure that his creative legacy will be remembered by our community and inspire future generations,” Adam Smith, one of the representatives responsible for this bill, stated.

Hendrix was born and raised on 4301 NE 4th street, the same street that the post office is on. Not only was he raised there, he was buried a few blocks from the post office at the Greenwood
Memorial Park Cemetery.

This is not Hendrix’s first landmark in his hometown. He also has a museum, park, and several other memorials dedicated to him and his life as a musician. This post office will be adding onto
the list of memorabilia in his name.
