Bullying has made a big impact on society today. Bullying affects everyone around; it is a prevalent issue in high schools across America. Students that tend to bully other students have things in their lives that are affecting them.

Bullies want to feel in control by having others feel the same ways that they are feeling. Typically, the kids that end up being bullied are affected by that in a variety of different ways. It can affect them mentally and physically.

“Depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy. These issues may persist into adulthood.”

Schools who fail to notice that a particular student is depressed from being bullied can also lead to committing suicide.

“Although kids who are bullied are at risk of suicide, bullying alone is not the cause. Many issues contribute to suicide risk, including depression, problems at home, and trauma history.”

Not only that, but students who were bullied at younger ages in school sometimes want revenge later in life.

“A very small number of bullied children might retaliate through extremely violent measures. In 12 of 15 school shooting cases in the 1990s, the shooters had a history of being bullied.”

Overall, bullying affects everyone around and not just the individual that is being a bully. People from all around can make a change to the world by sharing if they see or hear anyone being
bullied, no matter if it is a student, teacher or adult–because anyone is capable of being bullied.

The sooner bullying is reported, the sooner a person’s life can be saved.
